Purple Fringed Orchid
What a lovely find this summer orchid can be for the wildflower enthusiast! It is found in the higher elevations of the park in grassy balds and along roadsides. Chck for them along Clingmans Dome Road. They bloom June through August. They have a less frilly cousin which grows at lower elevations of the park.
