Chicory

Chicory is smoky mountain wildflower which is actually a european native flower. It has a light blue flower that only bloom which only remain on the flowering plant for a day. Chicory can be found through out the Smoky Mountain National Park and surrounding area and usually can be seen along trails on the banks of hills since the plant likes well drained soil. If the stem is broken on the Chicory plant it has inside a white mily sap. And odd Fact of the Chicory is that it was used back in the World War II era for coffee when shipping was disrupted.
