Brevard is the county seat and largest city of Transylvania County in the southern part of western North Carolina. This quiet little community is in the Blue Ridge mountains of western North Carolina. The county covers one-fifth of the Pisgah National Forest and is just a short drive from the Blue Ridge Parkway, the Appalachian National Scenic Trail, and the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. Within the county are more than 250 waterfalls, over 200 miles of natural waterways, and 470 miles of hiking trails. Natural wonders abound both in and out of Pisgah National Forest; don’t miss the Cradle of Forestry, Fish Hatchery, or the French Broad River which flows north through Brevard.
